It should be emphasized that the modern modality known as dry-needling acupuncture or or biomedical acupuncture does not share any common foundation with traditional Chinese acupuncture, which is based on ancient Chinese philosophical and cultural concepts. The term acupuncture is used here in the sense of its original Latin roots: acus (needle) and punctura (puncture or piercing).
